10 Days Flores Island Tour
This Flores Island Tour starts in Maumere in the far east of Flores Island after a relaxing afternoon on the beach. You then journey west following the Trans Flores Highway, which is the island’s main road. Your first stop is the small town of Moni near the south coast with its Ikat traditional weaving and the extraordinary Kelimutu volcano. After climbing to the volcano’s three crater lakes, which change color as a result of the volcano’s activity, you follow the coast to Ende and cut through the scenic mountains and lush jungle before stopping in Bajawa. In and around Bajawa you will get to understand more of the island’s history and culture by visiting some traditional villages, such as Watublani, where you can see the extraordinary Ngada tribes with their retained traditions and rituals. After a long day, you can then massage those muscles in the nearby natural hot spring.
The countryside surrounding Bajawa is very dramatic and beautiful and offers an excellent base for treks for those who wish to stay longer. Your next stop on the Trans Flores Highway is the sleepy town of Ruteng, where you pause for lunch before admiring the nearby spider web shaped rice fields. Your next stop is a magical homestay in Denge, where you are greeted by beautiful rice fields and the spectacular Island of Mules that stands proud of the coastline.
Flores Island Tour Trekking
Your next adventure on our Flores Island Tour is the trek up to the village of Wae Rebo, which takes around 4 hours. The trek takes you up through some stunning scenery before reaching the cloud hidden Manggaraian Village, which will be your overnight home. You eat together and sleep together as a community in one of the traditional huts. This homestay experience is probably the best there is in the world!
Reaching the end of the Trans Flores Highway you pause at Labuan Bajo and board a traditional wooden boat for 2 days and 1-night
