Our Elephant Adventure in Cambodia is perfect for elephant lovers and for those who want to learn more about these magnificent gentle giants. On this elephant tour you will travel to the wilds of Cambodia’s North East for an intimate encounter with Asian elephants. You have a choice of either visiting an elephant sanctuary or enjoying an ethical elephant trek, where it will be possible to ride on an elephant’s neck.

Day
1
Siem Reap
Siem Reap to Kratie | Drive: 6 hours
Today you depart Siem Reap in the early morning and begin the journey to a riverside town of Kratie. You will reach the bustling provincial city of Kompong Cham, where you stop for lunch on the riverfront. After lunch, you continue your journey passing through the old river port of Chhlong, home to some of the best examples of French colonial architecture in the country.
Continuing on you will pass many local villages until you reach the riverside town of Kratie, a sleepy Mekong port and gateway to an encounter with the rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins. Once in Kratie, you are free to explore the town and the local market as you wish; before enjoying a magnificent sunset over the river, if you’re staying on the mainland, or you will take a short boat trip to Koh Trong Island if you want to experience more rural life.

Sen Monorom
Kratie to Sen Monorom | Drive: 3 hours
This morning you will travel the short distance up the river to the dolphin pool of Kampi, which is home to the rare Irrawaddy dolphins. Once here you have the choice of taking a traditional fishing boat to get a glimpse of the dolphins, or for the more adventurous you can enjoy an active kayaking experience. From here you continue to the nearby hilltop pagoda at Sambok Mountain, which boasts stunning views of the surrounding area. Before finishing the day by travelling to the wilds of Sen Monorom, the home of the Cambodian Elephants.

Cambodian Elephant Experience
Today you have 2 alternatives:
Cambodian Elephant Trekking
Travel to a traditional tribal village to meet your guide and elephant. From here you will enjoy an elephant ride, through the Cambodian countryside, past rivers and into the jungle. After enjoying lunch by a river you have the amazing opportunity to swim and help wash your elephant before returning home.
The Elephant Sanctuary
This is essentially a conservation project where rescued Cambodian elephant live. On your day with the elephants, you will follow the herd and learn all about their mannerisms and connect with them. You can also feed them bananas and help to hose them down and giving them a bath.
Local Tribal BBQ
Whichever experience you choose for the evening you will dine with a local Phnong family and enjoy a local BBQ inspired by Gordon Ramsay. The evening gives you a fabulous insight into Cambodian culture and real traditional tribal life.

4
Phnom Penh
Sen Monorom to Phnom Penh | Drive: 7 hours
Today you leave Sen Monorom behind and head to Phnom Penh or back Siem Reap stopping for lunch at Kampong Cham or Kampong Thom. On the way, you will pause at Skuon where it is possible to try the local delicacy of a deep-fried tarantula, the last of the Cambodian wildlife you will see on this tour before you Elephant Adventure comes to a close.
