It’s a combination of different factors, the cool climate, the soils, the long experience of the French winemaker. The wines are made in the tradition of western wines with new technologies and modern equipment.

Visit the Artisans of Inle Lake
Silk Weaving & Dying: Silk weaving has found its home on the lake for over 100 now and more recently lotus weaving has become very popular. You can visit the floating factory and watch the artisans at work before visiting the show room and picking up some fabulous souvenirs.
Silversmiths: The Ywama village gold and silver smiths are another fascinating lake stop and have been in operation for decades. You can not only pick up a good bargain but also watch and marvel at their intricate work.
Cigar Rolling: Watch the young women tirelessly rolling local cigars or ‘Cheroots’ one after another. The cigars are rolled from one tobacco leaf and contain a blend of dried banana, pineapple, star anise, brown sugar, tamarind, honey and rice wine.
Umbrella & Paper Making: This is another artisan that is well worth visiting as you learn how to make decorative paper and traditional Umbrellas (parasols). A truly delightful way to spend an hour or two.
